Hey everyone,
In this post I want to touch on the topic of digital literacy, and how podcasts can contribute to it.Technology
is becoming an important aspect of learning, and therefore students must be not
only be literate in the sense that they can read and write, but also digitally
literate. Digital literacy contains multiple facets, and while we may assume
that today’s generation is digitally literate due to the reliance on digital
technologies this is not always the case. Being digitally literate requires you
to be able to do more than use social media effectively, which is mostly what
youth today focuses on. It requires you to understand many aspects of the
digital world.
Podcasts
can be an efficient way to help enhance student’s digital literacy by allowing
them to express themselves in a different digital way. Podcasts can be a great
way for students to participate in reflections, or present projects. By
implementing podcasts into the classroom can study and learn effectively in
technology rich environments, create academic digital media, and participate in
digital networks that enhance their learning.
Podcasts
are not limited to use in school settings, they can also be a great tool for
someone who wants to enhance their digital literacy at home. Individuals only
need a computer and a microphone to record their podcast and then they can
share it with the world. This is a great way to get more familiar with digital
technologies, and find individuals who share similar interests as you.
Here is my first podcast, hope you enjoy :)
