Voicethread

Hey everyone,

This week we were introduced to yet another tool, Voicethread. Like many of the other tools we have learned about over the past few weeks Voicethread is a great option for collaborating. Voicethread is a tool which allows you to connect with other individuals with out scheduled meetings, it makes sharing your ideas easier, and goes beyond flat text based communication.

Voice thread could fit nicely into the socializing and collaborating portion of my PLE. This tool can provide benefits for academic learning as it has a number of features to help make communication more clear and meaningful. By using the voice or video commenting tool in combination with the doodle tool you can show your fellow learners exactly what you trying to say. This type of communication can take the guess work out of online communication that is usually associated with text based communication. I think this tool especially provides benefits in e-learning classes because it gives you that personal, face to face experience that is often missing from these learning platforms.

This tool provides most obvious benefits for current and future teachers, as it is a great way to keep the conversation going after class is over, however it can also have value in other workplace settings. Often it is hard to schedule meetings with colleagues but voicethread allows you to meet up whenever you can from where ever you can. Not only does it allow you to communicate with multiple individuals but it also keeps a log of everyone's comments so you can always reference back to the conversation if needed.

Here is the voicethread our class collaborated on:
